DIY Cleaning Agents For Your Appliances

Keeping your kitchen and domestic appliances clean helps them to both look smart and run smoothly. And while there are a million and one cleaning products available in the supermarket, there’s no reason you can’t make them yourself, too!

Homemade cleaning products save you both time and money, and in the current climate it’s always a win to find a home hack that means you don’t need to venture out and about to the shops if you don’t have to.

Here are a couple of our favourite DIY cleaning agents for your domestic appliances, to keep your kitchen looking sparkling at all times.

1. Glass Cleaner

Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of washing powder in 1/2 cup hot water. Pour it into a spray bottle. Add 1/4 teaspoon of washing up liquid and two cups of club soda to the spray bottle. Close the bottle and gently shake to combine. This liquid is perfect for the oven or microwave door and the rotating dish inside, or any glass surfaces. Just spritz and wipe clean with a soft cloth.

2. Grease Cleaner

Mix two tablespoons of oil (trust us) and three tablespoons of baking powder together. Use this mix on any grease stains on your appliances, such as your hob. Rub the mixture in with your fingers or a toothbrush and the stain will dissolve. Then wipe clean with a dry cloth. This mix lasts a long time, so you can store it in a sealed container to use at a later date, too.
